"The Best of Everything"
Dec. 14th, 2005 11:54 pmThe black & white photo on the book cover says this is a period piece - the period being the early 50s. People wore camel's-hair coat and drank martini at lunch. And 'She was quite sure that she loved him more than he loved her, but he was a man, after all, and men had other things to worry about.'
It is Rona Jaffe's first novel, and it shows a bit: so far, two woman have been described as 'tall, slim' - one being our girl Caroline's ex-fiance's wife, the other being Caroline's new boss.
The title somehow reminds me of a phrase on AskMe the other day: 'perfectly moral, perfectly in love, and perfectly employed.'
