"My Name Is Red"

__ If we smelled it, it'd have the scent of a horse. If it were a flower, it would smell like a daisy, not a red rose.
__ I'm not afraid of other colors, shadows, crowds or even of loneliness. How wonderful it is to cover a surface that awaits me with my own victorious being!
- When it snowed on the fortress of Tiflis, the washerwomen sang songs the color of flowers and children hid ice cream under their pillows for summer.
- We Ottomans, forever respectful of whatever is written, paid no
heed to the amount of gold in each ducat - so long as the inscription
remained the same -
