Nov. 22nd, 2011 10:17 pmPeter Ackroyd's history on the city of Venice is poetic but boring. There was much musing about water, mirrors and surfaces.
__ …the tourist shops of Venice small ornaments made from the pearl shells found in the Lido, known as fiori di mare or the flowers of the sea. They are the only flowers indigenous to Venice.
__ There are other deep correlations between place and spirit. Venetian society has been described as fluid and ever-changing.

I had high hopes for Erin Morgenstern's fantasy novel. Alas, like the previous book, it is attractive in concept, but not grabbing enough.
