This novel is at least an aptly named. A lot of things happen to our literary heroine and it's not clear what her plan is, except trying not to forget her erased husband. Jasper Fforde has many clever conceits about the fictional universe and clearly still doesn't lack ideas even in book III. But after a five-odd years hiatus, it would have been better for me to re-read the first book in the series and reacquaint myself with the alternative universe Thursdays lives in than to jump headlong into the Well with her.

Ms. Sastre, the reader of this audiobook does such a good job that I lasted one extra CD. It's uncanny when the story got to the racing-mad Mr. Toad, because I could swear Mr. Toad had exactly the same voice as in the audiobook "Wind in the Willows" that I listened to.

Literary things discussed in the book:
  • page-runners
  • Outlanders cannot say tongue-twisters.
  • Vikram Seth caused the 1982 character shortage.
  • the lack of breakfast in novels
  • council of genre fiction
  • the poet who would not use the word 'majestic'
  • the Russian characters overheard gossiping about Anne K. on footnote-a-phone.
