"Octo" is the story of a 12-year-old special-need boy and his doomed stinky pet.

"ONJ.com" is about a young woman who resolves to make a gay friend as part of her self-improvement plan, and her free-lancer who seems to fit the bill. This clever story points to the perils of a relationship where people are chiefly aligned by their tastes. They both know how to dress with charming irony, but when the same calculation is brought to friendship, the result isn't quite as pretty.

There are elements of betrayal in both stories. That doesn't make those stories 'darkly funny', as the blurbs would have it. Instead of finding Vestal McIntyre's writing 'tender', I only found a slightly queasy aftertaste.

My new resolution is to stay away from modern-day short stories set in New York, NY for a while.

A random search for Zeng Zhiwei movies yielded the following titles:
"Love Is a Many Stupid Thing", "And I Hate You So", "Over the Rainbow Under the Skirt", "Good Times, Bed Times" .

Rory: My interests are teasingly diverse.
