"The Phantom Tollbooth"
Aug. 7th, 2010 04:16 pmThe audiobook version works very well, given how many puns there are in the book, ('Watch-dog', 'Hum-bug', Doctor Dischord and his 'Awful Djinn', to name a few), but I would have liked to see Jules Feiffer's visual interpretation of Norton Juster's whimsies too. This is a children's book that's driven less by plot than by ideas, i.e., it's closer in spirit to "Alice In Wonderland" than "James and the Giant Peach".
