The book starts with the author's musician uncle's attempt to replace a broken tar, which ends in failure. By the next page, (and 8 days later,)  he's already six feet under the ground. The rest of the book is about how.

It's a testament to Marjane Satrapi's narrative skill that this structure works so well, and the short book also manages to include two other deaths in the family, two generations of sibling rivalry, unrequited love and dervishes.

Too bad I can't find any recipe online that looks similar to the titular dish.
