May. 3rd, 2007 07:33 pmOf all the books I didn't make a proper go of, this makes me feel guiltier than most. Elihu Vedder's congenial biography must have laid undisturbed in the stacks for quite a spell, before I so carelessly ruined its downtime.
The only amusing bit I remember:
"My father belonged to the militia, ... and armed with musket and bayonet he inspired awe; but he someies attended drill with a simple umbrella, as did other."
