"The Art of Computer Programming"
Feb. 10th, 2005 10:14 amI've decided to stick with Dr. Knuth some more. Meanwhile, here's a better explanation of Batcher's ingenious merge-exchange sort. Put music to it and it would make an excellent lullaby: 'If we have 2m keys all together...'
Incidentally, when geeks play too hard, you get scandal.
As I was browsing through the new paperbacks at the library yesterday, I became rather taken with the covers of the Trailsman series. They are cinematic and exciting - bar fights, horse chases, frozen tundra, wild animals, not to mention a different beautiful girl in the upper right frame each time! (Some samples: "Nevada Nemesis", "St. Louis Sinners", "Dakota Death Rattle", "Hell's Belles", "Mountain Manhunt"). It's fair to say they leave Signet's Regency covers in the dust.
