["Love and Marriage", "Shining Through"]
Jul. 29th, 2008 07:25 pmIn those darkened days known as the early 90s, 早恋 was still severely frowned upon by one's elders. Then, why did some wise guy think it improving for us students to read about Bill Cosby's hormone flooded, j-o-n-e-s obsessed adolescent love life in the 50s?

__ A girl was only a honorary human being;
__ She thinks she's going to break up with him in about a week, but she promised Sidney she would go with him next.
__ Nan was about my height but built on a finer, smaller scale. Not skinny; just petite enough to make a guy feel she'd been custom-made.

This is not at all the book I remembered from college. Susan Isaacs's heroine spent way too long wallowing in her toxic relationship with her pretty-boy cold-fish boss then ex-boss, and the deliciously craggy man that ultimately loved her back was her husband's ex-father-in-law. Eew.__ Nan was about my height but built on a finer, smaller scale. Not skinny; just petite enough to make a guy feel she'd been custom-made.
