Got the abridged audiobook. I guess it's too much to ask Christopher Buckley for "Thank You For Smoking" type of redemption at the end for the characters here.
  • They would have no idea it was a steal of JFK's 1961 inaugural speech, "The torch has been passed to a new generation." Even fewer would know that she'd grafted it onto Harry Truman's famous slogan "The buck stops here."
  • There were the usual unimportant but large trophies, flags, maps, and awards from organizations no one had heard of and the obligatory photographs of him taken during reception line photo opportunities: the standard Washington wallpaper of self-importance.
  • "I'll probably end up at Betty Ford. I could always announce my Senate run from there. Lock up the rehab vote early."
  • How do you eat an elephant? One spoonful a time.
