"The Velveteen Rabbit"
Jul. 21st, 2012 06:06 pmMargery Williams's short story at first reminded me of Toy Story. I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to handle the story well as a young child.
- The mechanical toys were very superior, and looked down upon everyone else; they were full of modern ideas, and pretended they were real.
- 'Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'
- "Once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."
