Cheryl Reavis is one of the very few category romance writers that got on my keeper shelf twice.

As such things go, this is a modest tour de force. It is written from a young soldier's point of view. The young man, who just went through 11 surgeries, was convalescing and even walking across a parking lot was very painful and difficult for him. The severe physical constraint on the main character translates into a very introspective book. For a romance book, it affords the reader a rare opportunity to truly sympathize with the physically stricken.

The protagonist deploys a lot of military terms in daily life (to gentle humorous effect): 'Roger that', 'He wasn't in one what he would call a target-rich environment. There was only one. Him'. 

The object of his affection is a forty year old nurse/cancer survivor.
