Of all the violent/unnatural deaths in the middle of the book that include Archimedes, Galois, Yutaka Taniyama and Alan Turing, the hardest to read was that of Hypatia of Alexandria, who was peeled to death.

Incidentally, this is what I know now of Ada Lovelace, (born on 12/10/1815), daughter of Lord Byron: a pioneer in computer programming, namesake of ADA language, a compulsive gambler, died young.
