(1) Provide programmers with as revolutionary a data model as users.
(2) Data can live anywhere.
(3) Data is safe from corruption.
(4) Data is quick to get.
(5) Data can be large.  {Wow.}

• I didn't care how late it was. The F train ran all night to take me home to Queens. The revolution had to be customized!
• Public static void: I've always heard them as a bit of machine poetry, evoking the desolate limbo where software projects that begin with high spirits too often end up.
• I had forgotten to tell them, "Hit 'enter' when you're done." The Web browser's.. address bar is a little vestige of the command-line era, carrying an old set of customs and behaviors with it.
• That's the way Silicon Valley replenishes itself, forest-like: The technology industry moves in a perennial cycle of growth and decomposition, and new companies have always germinated in the empty space created by the toppling of other companies from a previous wave of growth.
  
• A project manager becomes addicted to eating paper, stuffing his maw with bigger and bigger portions at meetings as the delays mount.
