"The Da Vince Code" [.]
Sep. 30th, 2006 07:28 pmIt's gratifying to remember that I did think the person sitting next to Jesus looked like a girl when I first saw the 'Last Supper' painting. But what put me in the know years before is Iris Johansen's 'Lion's Bride', a romance novel about a weaver and a warrior.
Learning the Star of David, or a hexagram is made up of two opposing triangles is pretty neat.
The author was quite careful to have only the villain bad-mouth the church:
__ 'Nothing in Christianity is original.'
__ 'Anglicans drink their religion straight. Nothing to distract from their misery.'
Church herstory:
- pagan symbols lost the battle - Poseidon's trident became the devil's pitchfork; Egyptian sun disks became the halos of Catholic saints.
- Tarot had been devised as a secret means to pass along ideologies banned by the Church.
- a Gothic cathedral's doorway, 'complete w/ receding labial ridges and a nice little cinquefoil clioris above the door way'
- The troubadours (minstrel) were the traveling servants or 'ministers' of the Church of Mary Magdalene.
- pillars (Boaz & Jachin) found in Masonic temple {I first noticed this in Italy}
- During 300 years of witch hunts, the Church burned at the stake 5 million women.
